The Litter Less Campaign will be implemented across 15 countries including Russia, the UK (Northern Ireland), United States, China, Greece, Lithuania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Uganda, Canada, Romania, Germany and France. It aims to engage and educate children and young people on the issues of litter, and encourage them to make positive choices.  The campaign supplements the existing work the Wrigley Company undertakes to encourage responsible disposal of litter.

Thanks to the Foundation’s support FEE will run two significant campaigns in schools through its Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) programmes. Children aged 5-12 years in the Eco-Schools programme will be asked to design and lead their own anti-litter projects, or organise a Litter Less event at their school. Students 12-18 years involved in the YRE programme, will act as ‘journalists’, investigating and reporting on the problem of litter.

Commenting on the announcement, Dushan Petrovich, Wrigley President and President of the Wrigley Company Foundation, says; “We are very excited about the Litter Less campaign. Its hands on involvement of children in creating a cleaner environment will promote a meaningful change in attitude towards littering. FEE’s expertise and multi-national programming harnesses the energy and creativity of bright young students around the world empowering them to transform their communities. This partnership further builds on Wrigley’s long history of supporting litter prevention initiatives and promoting responsible behaviour.”

Jan Eriksen, President of FEE, added; “Litter is one of the first ways in which children are educated about the environment and it is usually one of the most visual issues in their community. With generous support from the Wrigley Company Foundation FEE will be able to influence the education of more than one hundred thousand students, in 15 countries, who can help to minimise this global problem.”
