YRE's Moroccan member organisation to host the Seventh International Environmental Education Congress in 2013 – the first in an Arab-Muslim country

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Foundation Mohamed VI for the Environmental Protection, the 7th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC) will be held from the 9th to 14th June 2013 in Marrakech, Morocco.

The main theme of the event, co-organized by the Foundation and the WEEC permanent secretariat, will be: Environmental Education in Cities and Rural Areas: Seeking Greater Harmony.”

In addition to this central theme, other issues affecting environmental education will also be addressed through 11 thematic niches.

Previous congresses were held in Espinho, Portugal (2003), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2004), Turin, Italy (2005), Johannesburg, South Africa (2007), Montreal, Canada (2009), and Brisbane, Australia (2011).

The Foundation, placing Environmental education at the heart of its missions, invites teachers, university researchers and all specialists involved in education to sign up and share their experiences, enrich information exchanges and enjoy the numerous other opportunities offered by holding the Congress in Morocco.
