I am deeply concerned about environmental issues and have an unbridled passion for the sea and the life that there exists. The adventure as a YRE began in 2011 when a teacher of mine introduced me to the programme. At first, I was taken aback since I had never dreamt to be a journalist, though my love for the environment and nature made me become interested in discovering the project. Since then I have participated in several missions, seminars, contests, workshops, and conferences, and I am eager to continue to be a part of it since it has just got me fond memories, loads of good friends, knowledge and the opportunity to develop new skills.

Kristin Rodrigo, Canada
Educator, Environmental Activist and Zoologist
My first participation with the YRE programme was back in 2014 when I had been given the opportunity to join the Litter Less mission in Sweden. Since then, I have attended conferences representing YRE such as the YRE-UNESCO Youth Forum in Portugal, COP24 in Poland, and La Nuit des Idées in France. In this network, I have learned that the biggest advantage comes through team work and collective action, as individuals, like me, could unlock skills with others to make impact they may have never imagined.
Currently, I am pursuing a career that combines my greatest passions - education, conservation and wildlife. These interests of mine have led me to create a platform I have branded as “The Sassy Zoologist”, which focuses on wildlife education and travel experiences. As of now, “The Sassy Zoologist” can be found on Youtube and Instagram.
